All higher humor begins with ceasing to take oneself seriously.– Hermann Hesse
All higher humor begins with ceasing to take oneself seriously.
– Hermann Hesse
Hermann Hesse was a German-Swiss poet, painter, and author who won the 1946 Nobel Prize in Literature. I was visiting my brother once and noticed he had a book by Hesse with a photo of the novelist on the cover. Having my sketchbook with me, I took that as inspiration to draw this portrait of him.
A friend of mine saw my portrait and said “Yes, I recognized him immediately.” Hahaha, I’m sure!
